Lucas's 1-yr-old pictures

Our sweet 1-year-old

How was it trying to get this little one to stay still for pictures?  This pretty much sums it up:

Number ONE

Although I took Lucas's 1-year-old pictures, I also took him to the same portrait place that Emma and Samuel had their 1-year-old pictures just so we could have one of Lucas with the same
Number 1 block:

 Samuel

We don't have one like this of Nathan, but here he is at ONE:

Highlights

This week Emma had show and tell at school. She decided to take my old doll Karen Christmas... so sweet!  This doll is so big that she needed her own place to sit during class time!

We had big news on the Samuel front this week-- Sam had his first successful potty stop!  This is a major deal as he has shown zero interest up to this point.  We still have a long way to go but Mom & Dad are at least feeling a little more encouraged about the possibility of only having one in diapers at some point!

The great bed exchange!

Last weekend we did a major switcheroo with kids beds in our house!
Emma has been ready for her "BIG big-girl bed" for quite some time, so we began with her...
No more room on this little bed for a growing girl!
She was thrilled to get her awesome BIG cousin Rachel's hand-me-down bed (Nathan got cousin Jenna's some time ago).  She picked the middle position of the three available (she can also have her mattress closer to the floor or up high like a bunk bed).
All tucked into her fairy bed for a fairy good sleep!
Samuel was next in line...
He has slept great in his crib and has never even tried to get out, but at almost 3-years-old, we decided to go ahead and let him take the next step.
Last nap in his crib:
Watch out world!  "I get out of my own bed now!"
(though he has NOT gotten out until time to wake up each morning!)
And last but not least, Little Lucas...
He has slept in a neat, round crib we borrowed from some friends.

It was time for him to move into the crib that both Emma and Samuel have used.  The first night I laid him in his new bed to go to sleep, and wondered how he would do.  It hasn't phased him a bit!  He has done great!
Checking it out:
Ready to go night night!
And to all a good sleep!

Loves

For Valentine's Day, my dear husband bought me a Mother's Ring on which each of our children is represented by his/her birthstone.  My loves...

Lucas, proud of climbing up into Samuel's chair
Sometimes when I leave Emma with Daddy while I run errands or something, she likes to wear my sweatshirt... it makes her feel a little more connected to me.
 Yay, for boxes

Look Mom, I can fly!

It's amazing what grocery sacks can help you do!

Portrait

Grandma, Emma, and the portrait Emma drew of "G'ma". Looks just like her, don't you think?

Little Man

You are so stinkin' cute!

Recovery

Poor Nathan came to us on Monday after being violently ill for 24 hours.  It was hard to see him feeling so poorly!
After a full day of rest and eating well again, he was ready to return to school.  Here he is with a cool Lego guy he made:

Grin

I just love this picture of Lucas (skinned nose and all) taken in the car one day right after he woke up from a nap...

Valentine fun!

Valentine morning brought us a winter wonderland!  You can't get much better than that for a snow-lovin family like ours!

Then off to Emma's school for a Prince/Princess Valentine's party!
Daddy joined us for a special lunch at school!
We made Valentine cookies at Grandma's!
Of course we had to play in the snow (even though by afternoon it was a slushy, muddy mess)!  Emma and Samuel LOVE to eat snow!

Lucas spent much of his time on the ground- it was a little difficult for him to walk- not sure if the problem was the snow or his big snow boots!  He was happy to be outside though!
The Valentine snowman
The rest of our day was fun too, we just didn't take any pictures.  We had yummy take-out for dinner, a heart shaped ice cream cake dessert, exchanged Valentines with all of our sweethearts, watched some funny Valentine cartoons, and just hung out enjoying each others company.
