A style of his own!

Samuel LOVES to play dress-up.  Unfortunately most of our dress-up clothes are Emma's (so they are quite girly).  He doesn't mind this, but we often think he could use a few boy things!  The other day I found a men's hat that looked cool so I bought it for him.  He has really taken to it... and likes to wear it WITH Emma's dresses and aprons.  (Notice his choice of shoes too).  We love our big boy, and we can't help but love his style!

Pinewood Derby

Today was the long awaited Pinewood Derby!

 He raced in four "heats" and came in 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 1st.  He did not place in the final races but he was happy with how his car performed

7 weeks today

Today Lucas is 7 weeks old.  He has outgrown his newborn clothes and diapers and is really starting to fill out.  He hands out the sweetest smiles and open-mouth grins that melt our hearts and we just love to hear his voice as he coos and chats with us.

Pinewood Derby Fever!

It's that time of year again and Nathan has worked hard on his Pinewood Derby car:

Then Daddy told Emma that she could make one too!  She was SO excited!

The guys let Emma race her car at their pack race this week... well, before their actual race when they were all practicing...

She knew that hers was the "prettiest one there!"

The BIG Pinewood Derby is Saturday!  We can't wait to see how Nathan does there!

Children's Museum Field Trip!

Emma's class had a field trip to the Children's Museum yesterday.  Daddy and I (and Lucas) went with her.  It was much less crowded then when we were there on opening day so we were able to really check out all of the exhibits.  What a fun day!

Skating!

Last night our church had a skating party so I took our older two...  Nathan hadn't been skating in quite a while, and this was Emma's first time going to a Skating Rink.  Emma wanted to know "why people have to skate around in a circle."  

They both did pretty well considering...

 

Our church provided pizza, cupcakes, and drinks, so Emma also had her first SODA POP (Sierra Mist)!

Favorites

When Lucas was 12 days old I took him to Indianapolis to be a model for a photographer (Rachel Vanoven) whose seminar I attended last fall.  In exchange, we received a CD of images she took.  It's been hard for me to decide which are my favorites, but I think I've finally settled on these:

My Valentine

6 weeks already

Valentine's Party

Emma's class had their Valentine Party today in the form of a "Prince & Princess Tea Party."  It was a fun time of dress up, surprise visitors ("real" Knights), music, stories, shooting bow & arrows, and of course snacks.

Lucas accompanied Emma and I, and he was very good the whole time.  While the kids were looking at all of their Valentine goodies I laid him on the floor so he could stretch out.  He hung out looking at some bright colored pillows, cooing and SMILING!  Yes-- his FIRST SMILES!!
