3 seater

Trying out the wagon attachment Lucas got for his birthday.  When he gets a little bigger we'll actually let him ride in it!  Now we can pull 3 at once!
This squirrel put on a little show for us so we stopped and watched him for a while.

Egg Tree

A favorite pre-Easter activity at Grandma's is helping decorate the "egg tree" in her front yard!

Lucas picked some eggs out of the basket, tried to pull some off the tree, checked out the tree trunk, and generally kept Mom on her toes!
The first and last are classic Lucas faces.  The middle was a little screech he let out just because he could...

Winner

Emma WON the school coloring contest (for her age) for the second year in a row!  She got to pick a book and bookmark from the book fair!  Way to go Emma!

Hippy

And then there was "hippy day". Nathan knew right away what he wanted to wear (note: the wig from his Michael Jackson costume), and Emma let him borrow some beads!

Spring Picture

This is Emma's spring picture from school.

Looking way too grown up!

Shoes

I took this picture in early March because I needed a new header for our blog and wouldn't have the opportunity to take one of our four for several days.  I loved capturing the stair step sizes of our kids at that moment.  I know there won't always be such differences in their shoes sizes or their heights, and their ages will seem closer together at some point as well.  I can recall these changes in my family of origin.  When we were all very young we were at different stages in life and play and certainly different sizes, but as we grew up the age-related differences became fewer and fewer.  Now when the four of us are together it generally feels like we are all the same age or at least that's how it seems to me {the middle child}.  My sisters and I have swapped clothes here and there over the years, and our "baby" brother is now the tallest with of course, the biggest feet!

Wacky Day

Nathan goes all out for Wacky Day!

Peek!

Smileys

Last week Samuel {entirely on his own} figured out how to draw a smiley face!
Later in the week we did a little painting, and Mr. Smiley showed up there as well.

Easter Bunny

It always amazes me how much it costs to walk away from a simple visit with the Easter Bunny (or Santa Claus) with a low quality picture as a souvenir.  I have been delighted many times that our impromptu "visits" have truly been that- the kids have had him all to themselves for 10-15 minutes and really had a pleasant experience.
We were at the mall the other day and happened upon the Easter Bunny with NO line and no one else around.  The kids were SO excited and all ran up to him!  Samuel hopped right up onto his lap and kept touching his chin and hands.  Emma looked him over real good, gave several hugs and tried her best to figure out the mystery behind this strange bunny-person.  Lucas was happy to run around the whole area checking out the giant eggs, flowers, and anything else he could find. He did well sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap in short spurts.

The picture was kind of a problem.  The one we ended up with was the last one {of many} that were taken, and the kids were really over the whole picture thing by that point {hence the flowers}.  The photographer was having camera issues so she probably took a dozen pictures AND printed them out before she finally got one that wasn't too blurry.

A few parting comments:
Samuel, "He not talk to me!"
Emma, "I know he's real because I saw him breathing!  He must be able to see because he waved right at me!"

Daffodils and Daredevils

More moments of OUTSIDE ENJOYMENT

Spring all around

Lately the kids and I have been out taking walks as often as the weather permits.  We began when it was still a bit cool outside-- boy, that changed quickly!  It's now in the 80's!
On many occasions, Emma has brought along a doll in a stroller.   The one below is "St. Patrick" (well, that was her name at the time- it was "Holly" at Christmastime and "Valentines" in February...)

Each walk is like a new adventure with kids thrilled to discover bits of nature they haven't seen before, or spot ones that have become old familiars.  We have thoroughly enjoyed the changing trees... going from this...

to this, in just a few days!

Bowing

Nathan is thrilled to finally be "bowing" on his viola!  He said it is easier than he thought it would be.
Nathan dear,
You are growing way too fast! {and becoming such a fine young man}
