Sunshine

38:52 Sunshine

I have to say that it was Emma's idea to leave the sun partially unpainted.

Space-ment

When we got rid of Lucas's bath-seat, much to his disagreement, he found a new space in the bathroom that had previously housed the seat.  He hid in it one day and I said, "That's a Lucas-sized space isn't it?"  Now, he has his own way of describing this favorite spot.

"This is my Lucas-sized space-ment."

I ran across this comic Nathan wrote a few years ago and thought I'd share it...

Fear

So my Project 52 theme for last week was "fear".  In all of our business I didn't have time to create a picture for this, and fear is not a frequent expression in our lives.  I ended up just submitting the photo below which shows more apprehension than fear and I thought the scripture was fitting...
Isaiah 41:10a Fear not for I am with you...

Putting on a show

One day at Grandma's house the kiddos decided, after much time primping, that they should put on a show...

And it WAS quite a show!

Win!

Nathan now has several tennis matches under his belt.  He and his partner won the last two!  Way to go!

Buddies

I got such a kick out of watching Lucas with my old doll Matthew the other day... Emma had been playing with him and then Lucas decided to sit and read Matthew a book:

Getting wet, one way or another

We are thankful that our summer has been so mild.  There have only been a handful of hot, miserable days.  On those few 90+ degree days we've enjoyed cooling off with some form of water play.  These are from some of those summer days that were perfect for getting wet

 Pools again

And then there was the day that it was so hot I decided to give the kiddos their bath/shower with the hose... shampoo and all!

Summertime Fun

Sharing some summertime pictures that I didn't get around to posting before...

Superhero Samuel saving Princess Emma!

Mechanic Lucas giving himself a pretend hair cut

Block Party

A few weeks ago we went to the Block Party downtown.  It was an interesting afternoon.  First Emma and I viewed the shortened ballet put on by her ballet company.  This was the same performance she was in, but much shortened and performed by a special group of students.  I don't think Emma even noticed I was with her... she was glued to the performance!
This is how close we were!  Right up front!  It was a VERY hot day and we were right in the sun, but that didn't put a damper on Emma's enjoyment!
Afterwards she was thrilled to talk to one of the stars, who also assisted in her ballet class last year.
When the guys joined us we explored the rest of the Block Party.
Dad and the kids doing an fun experiment:
A sand craft

The biggest chair they've ever sat in!

Faithful monkey-no-plug

This little "stuffie" used to have a plug (pacifier) attached to it and was Lucas's FAVORITE.  Since removal of the pacifer six months ago, it has remained a favorite... The beloved "monkey plug" is now "monkey-no-plug".

Sleep and Slide

Samuel recently got a new BIG bed... it has been the object of much excitement in our household!  We hadn't necessarily planned on getting him a new bed just yet but when we saw this bed for less than one third of the retail price we had to nab it.  It's pretty much every child's dream bed and we are so glad that all four of our kiddos can enjoy the slide (even Mom has gone down a few times)!

His first night in the new bed (Aug 25)... he slept GREAT, but then, he's an awesome sleeper anyway.
Lucas wanted me to take his picture as well... his crib was moved to the other side of the room where Samuel's smaller bed used to be.  We aren't quite ready to give Lucas more freedom...
A taste of the fun:
