CC Closing ceremony

At the closing ceremony for CC, each class presented some examples of what they learned during the year...
The whole group (missing a few that were on vacation) First they recited John 1:1-7

Samuel's class presented on Geometry

Emma's class had two shared a history sentence and some English grammar

Each child who participated in Geodraw for all 24 weeks earned a prize (an earth kick ball).

In addition there was a drawing from all the Geodraw kid's names for two prizes (sets of CC Map Place mats for next year).  Emma won a set!  She was SO happy!

And the BIG moment... the Subject Master certificate!
Super job, Emma!

Another year of CC

We recently wrapped up another year of Classical Conversations!  This is a group that meets for 24 weeks during the school year and follows a set curriculum.  Each week the kids learn something about history, Latin, English grammar, geography, math, timeline, a science experiment and fine arts. They also do a short presentation each week.   Each CC day is 3 1/2 hours of class time and one hour of lunch and fellowship.

There is also a third class that is all boys.

Emma worked hard to earn her title of History Master again this year.  She had to recite all 24 history sentences.  She did this easily.  The Preamble to the Constitution was one of them:

The history songs are quite popular around here...

Lucas sometimes surprises us by singing them on his own at random times, like here at the dinner table:

This year Emma decided to also go fro Timeline Master!  This meant that she had to recite the ENTIRE CC Timeline, which is "161 events of human history, representing major cultures and every continent."  Here she is toward the end...

She did it!

Oh so huggable!

Last week during a kickball game, one of Samuel's teammates couldn't keep her hands off of him!  We could see his cheeks turn red from where we were sitting!
 He was so nice...
She tried to hold his hand a few times too and he gently pulled it away
One of the coaches noticed and asked her to let go of him
It took a couple of times, but finally she left him alone, and then the coach posed for me!
I told him she probably couldn't help herself-- he's so adorable!

If the shoe fits...

End of Class Action

We have attended a home school co-op on Mondays this year.  There were about 100 children (not including those in high school) so it is quite a big production.
Here are Emma and Samuel's yearbook pictures (they only took a group shot for the preschool kids).  Lucas is in the top left corner looking out the playhouse window, as well as on my lap in the group picture:

This semester Lucas had a Preschool class for one hour, and then two hours of playtime.  Samuel had Exploring Science through Creation, My Father's World, and Art.  Emma's classes were Anatomy, Art, and Exploring Science through Creation.  I helped in Lucas's preschool class and Samuel's art class.
We had a good semester but we are thankful to have a break.
Here are a few pictures from our last couple of weeks.

Samuel's birthday

Samuel chose Mario as the theme for his 6th birthday.  Though he doesn't get to play it nearly as much as he'd like, he is a big Super Mario Bros fan!
He helped me pick out the plates, cups, etc... and the Pinata!

His cake was decked out with Mario stuff...

They didn't have a Mario balloon, but he was happy to find Spiderman!

His dinner request:  Hotdogs, mac-n-cheese, and peppers

Pinata time!
It was a rainy day so we set up in the garage

Finally-- cake!

Lucas drew this picture of he and Samuel as Mario and Luigi

Emma made him a special card
He had a great day!
