All About Samuel

Our dear Samuel--
He is such a character! He colors our lives with extra joy, humor, silliness, emotions, love, kisses and hugs.
He has been a delight to teach this year in school and has breezed through all of his kindergarten work.  He is reading well, writing well, loves spelling c-v-c words, and finds math to be super easy.
He has always been our sensitive kid.  His feelings get hurt easily and he feels disappointment very deeply.  I can't help but think he is adorable, even when he cries...

His friend Joey came over for a play date during spring break.  Surrounded by toys, yet these two spent a lot of time looking at books together.  That is certainly Samuel's thing.  It is not unusual to see him pouring over books, Lego magazines, or Lego Encyclopedias.

 He loves all things Mario!

Samuel has a unique relationship with each of his siblings.  He and Emma were first playmates for each other, and though they play together less now then they used to, they do still sometimes enjoy each others company.  When Lucas is napping you can often catch them spending some time together.  They trade various things and make little gifts for each other.  They each like having "alone" time and unfortunately sometimes one wants that while the other wants to play.

Lucas and Samuel have a sometimes competitive, sometimes cooperative, sometimes combative relationship.  They enjoy many of the same toys, games, etc so this can cause issues.  Also, Samuel prefers to be the boss, which doesn't usually go over well with Lucas. Lately they have been playing together more peacefully than not.  It is neat to see their friendship blossom.
There is also a sweet aspect to their friendship.  Samuel tends to hover over Lucas and try to make him feel better if he's sad. We often hear him saying, "Aw, it's okay Lucas" in a really sweet voice.  Sam also loves to wake Lucas from his nap because Lucas pulls Samuel into his bed for snuggles.

Samuel & Nathan have a special relationship.  For Nathan, it began with Samuel's birth-- he finally had a brother!  Also, Nathan's baptism day was Samuel's 1st birthday, so that is something he will never forget.
For Samuel, it is really cool to have an awesome big brother.  He tends to want to be like Nathan in most things.  They share many likes, interests, and play all kinds of games together.  Nathan is really good with Samuel and enjoys spending time with him as well.

We are blessed to have Samuel in our family!
