A new dance

Emma recently auditioned for a role in The Children's Nutcracker.  An instructor from a different city is bringing her dancers here and including some local dancers as well.  Emma will be one of the Mother Ginger children.  We are looking forward to seeing this in early December!  It is already a SOLD OUT show!

Creativity

Samuel's teacher nominated him for the Character Award of Creativity in September.

Math is definitely a subject where Samuel shines!

His picture was on a board at school along with all the September nominees and the actual winner (who happened to be Emma's good friend, Gina).  The funny thing is that Samuel didn't realize he had been nominated.  I asked why he thought they were taking his picture and he said, "I had no idea!"
(Hence, the strange look on his face)

Lucas the scholar

We are so proud of Lucas and how well he is doing in school.  He is our kiddo who didn't want anything to do with writing or learning his letters until he went to Pre-K.  That was fine with me... I don't feel like kids that young should be pressured in these areas.  He enjoyed pre-K and learned some things and then it was on to Kindergarten this year.  What a change we have seen in these last several weeks!  He comes home telling us that he can read and spell words (the, can, we, I, see, and a few others).  His teacher wrote on his midterm report that "his writing skills (sounding out words) is INCREDIBLE!"  Now we see a boy who tries writing words on his own and is obviously proud of his ability.
Yesterday after school he found an All About Me poster we had and filled out the whole thing with a little bit of help !

Last week we noticed that he started trying to write our last name on his school papers.  I asked him how that happened, and he said, "I just wanted to do it!"
He also spent time during the church service on Sunday writing, rather than drawing.  He wrote things like "I can see the Lucas Bonit", and wrote his name repeatedly.  I wrote it correctly for him on his paper, and he practiced it a few times.
This week he is bringing home papers with his last name spelled correctly!  This is something he is totally doing on his own!
We our proud of our big Kindergartner!

Room makeover

When we bought our home, the boys' room looked like this:
Last week, I finally completed a project I've wanted to do since we moved in... to paint Gotham City on their wall.  We also hung shelves, curtains, and a picture.  Now their room is finished!

Kindergarten fun

Lucas got to bring Happy home from school for a few days.  The kindergartners take turns with him.  Lucas wanted a few pictures to document his stay:

Basketball

Emma loves basketball... just like Dad.  She is pretty good at it too!

Official wedding pictures

Finally some official pictures from Rachel and Nathanael's wedding.  They are gorgeous, and you can see all of our kids in action!

 The ushers were pretty tough
Nathan took his job quite seriously

Sharing

They share everything else (food, water, toys, people, laps)... They may as well share a bed too.  Though I think Gracie would rather have it all to herself.

Artists of the month

The kids' school has two different Art teachers.  One is a long time good friend of mine, Judy.  She happens to have Samuel for class.  Each month she asks a few students to pick the best projects from each of her classes to display as Artists of the Month.  She was thrilled that Samuel was one of them this month!  We were very excited for him too!  I happened to be at school that day so I was able to actually put his picture up on the wall!
Yay Samuel!

Banana Splits for all!

Getting big!

Gracie is now up to 12 pounds (quite a difference from 4.6 pounds when we got her!).  She graduated from a teeny collar that looked like it was cat size, to a "big girl collar"... AND, she had her first bone!

She does still love Lamp Chop though, so she isn't "too" big!
