The Sunshine Family

A couple of months before Emma's 4th birthday we were cleaning out a closet and ran across some old toys of mine. I got some out for her to play with and also showed her a few others that were for ages 4 and up so I told her she could have those when turned 4. She mentioned it a time or two after that but I soon forgot.

The night before her birthday Emma asked if she would be 4-years-old when she woke up. The next morning she came running in to me and told me that the very first thing she wanted to do was "play with the Sunshine Family." I was so surprised but shouldn't have been-- this child never forgets anything!

These were some of my most favorite toys ever!

For the last few weeks she's been playing with the people but tonight we got out the house for the first time.

They people no longer look new and the house is quite worn, but to Emma they are all very cool!

Here I am Christmas morning,1974

I had these before I ever had Barbies, and this has been my desire for Emma as well.  She has plenty of time to get into Barbie land once she is a little older.  She understands that she is not old enough for Barbies yet and that has not been a problem.  She'll often say, "Maybe when I'm 7 I'll have Barbies..."  She's not in any hurry and we are not in any hurry for her to grow up!
