Remembrance

October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

“Culturally, Americans don’t know what to do when it comes to mourning a pregnancy loss. Things are more concrete when it comes to losing a known loved one. There is the pull to ‘get over it’ and ‘put it aside.’ However, for mothers and families that have suffered through this kind of loss, the grief stays with them. With time, the grief diminishes, but a day of remembrance allows both those who have experienced the loss and those that have not to validate the grief.”

The Lord was so good to us in the midst of losing our sweet Pun'kin. By the time my due date came around I was at the end of the first trimester in a new pregnancy, with Samuel due the following Spring.  We cannot wish for a different outcome because if Pun'kin HAD been born we would not have Samuel... that is such a blessing and yet there is a part of us that is missing... a member of our family that we will not know until we too are with Jesus.

I recently read the book, Heaven Is For Real.  It spoke to me in a very personal way regarding the baby we lost.  I don't want to ruin it for those of you who have not read the book so I will just say that though I already knew our little one was in heaven, this book added a new dimension to this knowledge and brought a renewed sense of comfort.  If you haven't read it, it is certainly worth your time.
