More Snow

So our now day last week was wonderful!
It is always interesting to me when I hear parents complain about snow days and having their children at home.  Of course I understand the hardships on those who must work, but for those of us who stay at home snow days are an opportunity for quality time with our kiddos... these kids that grow up way too fast and before we know it they are gone more than they are home.  I, for one, cherish the time we have together.  I view each and every snow day as a gift... an extra day to enjoy being together and create more memories.  I try to make these days special in some way.  We don't always do highly organized activities, but I do usually try to provide some structure (games, craft, etc) for at least part of the day, while the rest they usually do their own thing.  It is not uncommon for a game of hide-n-seek to break out involving all four of them.
One of my favorite things is to watch and listen to my children play...  I love their creative ideas, the roles they play, and the conversations that take place in their land of make-believe.  These are the things that make me happy on snow days...
And of course when it isn't too cold, there is also much playing in the snow, warming up in blankets with snuggles, and drinking hot chocolate (though the last two occur separately-- I'm not THAT crazy!)
We've been lucky enough to have Brian home during a couple of our snow days so that has been EXTRA-special!

Nathan worked hard and built his own little fort...

Lucas loved helping Dad shovel!

Emma and Samuel had a "snow shop" where they sold snow, snow soup, and snowballs:
They all enjoyed playing on the big snow pile Dad made... (It would evolve into a fort once it hardened with a new cold front).
 A special Valentine treat!
