Fabulous Fall Break

We spent most of our fall break at McCormicks Creek State Park.
A couple of weeks before fall break we bought a pop up camper.  It wasn't necessarily something we were looking to buy right then, but Brian came across a really good deal and it seemed just right for us.  We've tent camped for almost 10 years and our van capacity was not keeping up with our growing family and the stuff required for us to camp.  The new camper will enable us to camp more often with less hassle from now on!

Since we were a little late in looking for reservations we had limited choices, but we ended up finding a decent sight at the very park that was my childhood favorite.  The last time Brian and I (and Nathan) camper there was in 2005 with my entire family.

It was raining the night we arrived so we made a quick dinner in the camper, went to DQ for a yummy treat and then came back and got settled for bed.
The next morning was chilly but we enjoyed eating breakfast outdoors.

We spent some time at the playground and then took a great hike!
The small zip line was a favorite!
Poor Lucas was still dragging a big from surgery so he spent a lot of time in the backpack.  He loved every bit of it though!

 One highlight was Wolf Cave

Lucas, so excited about the caterpillar on Nathan's arm (he had picked it off of my hat)

Emma achieved many things on these hikes that she wouldn't have thought possible... one was going through this tree that had fallen on/and blocked the trail.
 Deere loving brothers!

Dad helping Samuel cross the creek.  We did this a few times!

Samuel's little caterpillar friend at our campsite

King of the mountain!

We saw so many different kinds of mushrooms
These were more fun going down than up!

Happy Campers!

Sharing my favorite childhood campground with my own kiddos... sleeping in a pop-up camper just like I did as a kid... making memories with my own family that parallel some of my best childhood memories... Having a husband who loves it all as much as I do... PRICELESS!
