WINTER.... FINALLY!

We had our first real snow (one with enough cold that there was no mud) since November on President's Day.  Since it was already a day off from school, it was the perfect time to enjoy some Winter weather!
It was just a couple of inches, but it sure made the world around us look much nicer!

Two days later we had more snow.  It was a beautiful day so I decided to give Samuel & Emma a day off from school.  We are a few days ahead of schedule anyway.  We went to Grandma's and spent the day playing outside in her yard.  The snow was dry and fluffy- perfect for playing in but not really for snowballs and snowmen.
We went out TWICE!

 Lucas's trick

Of course we had REAL snow cones!

The next day was a "wind chill day" off from school since the wind chill was -25!  We continued to enjoy our winter weather but kept ourselves inside that day.  Friday rolled around with another chance for snow overnight.
Saturday was the perfect snow for playing!  It wasn't as cold and the sun was shining so the snow packed really well.  The kids had tons of fun with snowballs!  Dad helped them build a cool snowman!

They even met a friendly neighborhood dog who loved grabbing snowballs and sticks from them (through our fence):

Winter has FINALLY come!  It may not last long but we are loving every minute of it!

Lego Party

Samuel got to attend a Lego party for boys his age at the same church where Emma attended a girl/doll tea party. He thought it was really cool!

They had lunch and yummy treats!

They talked comic book heroes for quite a while before playing with Legos.  The pastor asked trivia questions to see how well they know their super heroes.  Most of the k-6th grade boys were stumped by the question "Who is Superman's greatest enemy"( or archenemy, I can't recall.)  After several wrong answers, he called on Samuel who sat quietly with his hand raised.  "Lex Luther", he said.  BINGO!

Ninja Turtle skate

The boys could hardly wait for this event!
They did a great job skating!

Samuel in a winning pose during the Freeze Frame skate game (he won two candy sticks)
Lucas's glow wand during the BLACK OUT skate!

They LOVED meeting Leonardo and Raphael and didn't want to leave!

Happy Valentine's Day

Our Valentine this year was a lot of fun.  You should've seen the boys blushing and giggling as I covered them with kisses!

Valentines weekend

We love Valentine's Day!  For us, it was a several days long celebration.
Our little home school party included candy heart sorting for math and candy heart science experiments... We also made Red Hot Glitter Goo-- so awesome!  Of course we made Valentine cookies too!
Earlier in the week we had made a family Valentine box.  It was fun to decorate!

Emma's favorite heart

On Valentine's morning we got all the Valentine's out- FINALLY!  (And Lucas was finally able to get IN it!)

Our day included passing out all the Valentines... I LOVE the ones that are home-made!  We had heart pancakes for lunch... Daddy left surprises on the table for Mom, and Mom even had some "man- candy" for Dad!
Mom and Dad had their date the night before so we spent all of Valentine's Day together.  We partied with some family friends in the evening.  It was a special day!

Lucas's 4 year old pictures!

Our big boy turned four last month and was really good when we went out to take his pictures.  It was pretty chilly so we just did a few at a time.  He is getting SO big!
If you're happy and you know it, Clap Your Hands!
