Finally some answers

When Samuel was 6-7 months old we started wondering if he had allergies.  I had him tested at around one year but the tests didn't show anything.  We had him tested again at age 3 and again, no positive results.  We were told to bring him back after he turned five because they could do a more complete test and the results would be more accurate.  During the last year we have noticed reactions to several foods (watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, celery, etc) and were expecting to see positive results for these items.  He was tested on July 2 and we received a full picture of what his little body has been dealing with all this time:
He is allergic to ALL trees (except Juniper), ALL grasses and weeds= ALL pollens!
He is also allergic to cats and dogs (just like his Mom!)  28 things in all!
The reactions were rated from 1-4 with 4 being the highest.  19 of them were 4's, and the big one below (BIRCH MIX) was 4++
He is not actually allergic to any foods, but has something called food/pollen cross reactivity.  Since these aren't true food allergies, he can continue to eat the foods that cause a reaction as long as it isn't too bad.  He was thrilled to hear this, and we celebrated the next day with a big WATERMELON!

Samuel was such a trooper.  Allergy tests are not fun, but I think the worst part for him was not being able to touch his back which itched horribly during the 15 minutes he had to wait until the doctor could record his reaction.  It did help some when I blew on his back, so that's what I did most of the time we waited.

With so many allergies, SHOTS were highly recommended.  Unfortunately he is allergic to so many things that it takes 2 shots to get cover all of them.  So, one week later we began.  He did really well with the shots- one in each arm, and this will be our weekly date for at least 6 months.  We should know between 6 and 12 months if the shots are going to really help him, but we are looking at a course of 3-5 years.
Not fun, but we are hopeful that this will eventually bring him some relief!

She also did an asthma test.  It is kind of hard to get full exact cooperation from a kid on this kind of test, so the results weren't totally conclusive.  At first she said he has asthma and she was going to give him a breathing treatment.  Then when she looked closer, he had one good value so she was encouraged by this.  She said he may have mild asthma like I do, but nothing she was worried about at this point.
