All about Samuel

This year I decided to start something new... around each of our children's birthdays I want to zero in on (and take pictures of) some of the ordinary moments in their every day lives that are a part of what makes them the extraordinary little people they are.

Samuel is a darling.  He gives lots of love to everyone in our family.  He is a feisty little guy who does not like to hear the word "no", to which he will respond, "Yeah, do."  I must admit that sometimes it IS hard to say no to that sweet little face!
Sometimes I just look at him with wonder... what a special treasure we have in this one... and I adore those eye lashes!
He is sensitive and gets his feelings hurt easily.  He finds comfort in being held, sitting on our laps, snuggling with his stuffed animals, and also in holding hands... It is not unusual for him to say, "hand" because he wants to hold my hand, or Daddy's, or Emma's, or Lucas's, or Nathans...
Samuel is bright, funny, and always busy.  A few of his favorite activities are reading books, working puzzles, playing dress-up, and building with blocks or Legos.  He loves cars and is a big fan of Thomas and Friends and Winnie-the-Pooh.  At 18 months he developed a love for and interest in the alphabet that has not waned.
He does not know the meaning of the word quiet- he's either talking loudly or making some kind of noises to go along with his play.  He tries to say everything and manages 4-5 word sentences pretty well.  We think he's getting his 2 year molars because he is quite slobbery these days and ALWAYS has his hands or some other object in his mouth.
This little explorer would live outside if we would let him.  He can't get enough of it!  He is happy riding around the neighborhood in a wagon, playing on the outside toys, going down the slide, perched on the back of a bike or in the trailer, and generally just running around.  It is never fun when our time outside comes to an end.
What a blessing you are precious Samuel!
