Emma had surgery this morning to remove her tonsils and adenoids. Besides having several illnesses since Christmas, she's had trouble swallowing food even during *healthy* times. Her ENT described her tonsils as "grade 3+" on a scale from 0-4 so they were quite large.
She was such a brave girl! Emma has never done well with doctors but this year we've reached a turning point and have had the best doctor and dentist visits ever. She's known about this surgery for a while and has had such a good attitude about it.
We were so proud of her this morning as we watched her walk with the nurses back to the OR, holding her stuffed cat and comfy pink blanket. She told us she'd see us later...

Recovery was kind of rough but we somewhat expected that. It seemed odd to have her be so quiet this evening. Now we are praying that her healing will be speedy and without complications.
This afternoon she ate 3 green Popsicles right in a row and had green lips to prove it!
It's so hard to watch your child go through something like this. Thankfully we know from previous experience that this will be very helpful to her in the long run. We've been through it before with Nathan (2007):
