Emma and I had an eventful year doing school at home. There were highs and lows... a definite period of adjustment, but we both ended the year feeling that we had learned and accomplished a lot and enjoyed it for the most part.
"Cutie" the Caterpillar was a favorite temporary pet and subject to study in school
He ate mostly parsley
Transforming!
Ready to view the world from a new perspective--
"Beauty" the butterfly!
She seemed to be happy hanging out on Mom's hand
We finally got her transferred to a leaf
It was exciting and yet hard for Emma to say goodbye to her little friend
Our first field trip was to the WonderLab Science Museum in Bloomington. Samuel went with us... They had a large constuction display and lots of neat things to build and explore.
We bought a used microscope so Emma could view many interesting things:
We studied Ladybugs...
And did holiday projects
The whole family participated in a rocket project we did at C.C. (Classical Conversation)-- we borrow the launcher so we could do it again!
We also did many fun art projects (this one was about abstract art)
You may wonder what the little boys did during our school time... Three days a week we took Samuel to Pre-K. On those days and when he was home it was always a goal to find something to occupy one or both boys... and usually involved messes of one kind or another.
