Indy Appt

Last week Brian and I took Nathan to an appt. with a neurosurgeon in Indianapolis.  He began having bad headaches in late October and after several days of a severe headache and nausea he had a CAT scan which revealed a cyst near his cerebellum.  The doctor ordered an MRI and then referred him on to Riley Hospital.
(You can clearly see the almond shaped lighter area at the base of his brain- posterior arachnoid cyst, aka the almond).

We had been anxiously awaiting this appointment in hopes of finding resolution to Nathan's headaches.
We had fun browsing (and buying a few things) at Half Price Books and then had a yummy lunch at Nathan's the restaurant of Nathan's choice, Don Pablos.  It was nice hanging out with just our big kid for a bit.
Unfortunately, the doctor did not provide many answers.  She doesn't think the cyst is causing his symptoms, so we have a couple of other avenues to pursue.
She didn't even have an explanation for our favorite of his MRI pictures:  The Smiley... her exact words were, "I've never seen anything like that before!"
She did say maybe it was a "artifact" somehow due to his braces.  To us, the moment we saw it we took it as a message that everything would be just fine.  God has a fun sense of humor.
